When people think of covered bridges in New England, they typically think of Vermont’s covered bridges. Vermont has the highest density of covered bridges per square mile in the United States, so it is a great destination for a covered bridge adventure. Nobody really thinks of Connecticut as a spot to check out covered bridges. But, there are a few historic covered bridges left in the state and a bunch of non-historic ones to check out!

If you’re looking to find a historic covered bridge, check out the Comstock Covered Bridge that’s on the Colchester and East Hampton border. This bridge was built in 1873 and it’s on the National Register of Historic Places. You can’t drive over this bridge, but you can walk over it. There are also some hiking trails accessible from the bridge.

While the bridge is a beautiful feature in the park, be sure to check out the waterfall and the trails if you’re interested in hiking!
