Getting There

Kent Falls State Park is a must-visit attraction for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike. The park is in Kent, Connecticut, a town in Litchfield County. The park boasts a stunning waterfall that cascades down over 250 feet, providing visitors with breathtaking views. If you want to visit the park but need to know how to get there, this article will provide all the necessary details.

Whether you’re coming from New York City, Boston or Hartford area, there are various routes you can take to reach the park. Typically when I go, I try to take Route 7 most of the way. This is because its a really scenic drive with some great views of the Housatonic River and the Litchfield Hills. The other reason I take Route 7 is because the parking lot is off of Route 7.

If you’re from out of state, you’ll have to pay to enter the park during the season. If you’re from Connecticut, you won’t have to pay to get into the park. This is a very popular state park and there’s limited parking. The lot can get pretty full in the spring and summer months.

Hiking Kent Falls

As the name suggests, the main attraction is Kent Falls. In fact, it’s one of the best waterfalls in Connecticut. The main waterfall is easily accessible and just a short walk from the parking area. Cross the dark-red covered bridge to cross Kent Falls Brook. Follow the paved path to the base of the falls.

Once you’ve thoroughly enjoyed the base of the falls, I recommend you hike the falls. There’s a path with stairs that takes you along the side of the falls. As you make your way up the path, you’ll be able to view a series of waterfalls.

While none are quite as impressive as the large falls at the base, they’re still pretty. There are plenty of observation platforms as you make your way up to the top. My favorite cascade is just before you get to the top of the falls. The path to the top is only about a quarter mile and it’s definitely worth doing.

There are other hiking paths to explore in the park, but if you’re like me and trying to soak up as much of the cascading falls as possible, you can take the path along the falls back to the bottom.

Picnicking

Once you get back to the bottom and you’re famished from the hike up to the top and back, there are plenty of picnic tables to enjoy a nice meal. There are also grills if you’re looking to barbecue and soak up some nature at this stunning park.
