Things to do and Places to Eat in Ledyard, CT

Ledyard, Connecticut offers a lot of things to see and do. It’s home to Foxwoods Resort Casino, which in itself has tons to do, but it also has plenty of hiking trails to check out as well as some really cool historic sites. Discover what Ledyard has to offer from a local!

Foxwoods Resort Casino

There’s no shortage of things to do at Foxwoods Resort Casino. Whether you’re looking to grab a bite to eat, gamble, shop, bowl, see a show, or hangout at the arcade, Foxwoods has got you covered. There’s even a hotel on-site.

Nathan Lester House

The Nathan Lester House is a historic home you can tour in Connecticut. The house was built in 1793. The docents of this house are very knowledge about the details of the house as well as the history. There are also hiking trails on the property that you can explore during your visit.

Stoddard Hill State park

Stoddard Hill State Park is one of my favorite spots to watch the sunset in southeastern Connecticut. This park is situated along the Thames River in Gales Ferry, Connecticut. You can enjoy the water views, or explore the hiking trails at the park. There’s even an old cemetery you can check out towards the beginning of the trail.

Holmberg Orchards & Winery

Holmberg Orchards and Winery is a great spot to visit year-round. You can pick your own fruits (what you pick is dependent on the time of year), sip wine and the winery, or stop in at their farm market. Their farm market has some really delicious baked goods.

Fireside Brick Oven

Fireside Pizza is one of my favorite pizza spots in southeastern Connecticut. This pizza place in Gales Ferry has a variety of pizzas, including unique pizzas like the mac and cheese pizza pictured. The pizza is wood fired in a brick oven and absolutely delicious.

Ledyard Up-Down Sawmill

The Ledyard Up-Down Sawmill is a historic water-powered up-down sawmill that you can actually see in action. The sawmill is open seasonally. You can see the saw cut through wood as well as the parts that make the sawmill work underneath. The park where the sawmill is situated is open year-round and it features a pond with a loop trail around it.

Ledyard Glacier Park

Ledyard’s Glacier Park is a cool spot to explore. There are several glacial and stone features to check out in the park. There are also several benches to sit back and relax along the trail. My favorite feature of the park is the rock shelter that’s pictured.

Zest Coffee Bar

Zest Coffee Bar is a cute little spot in Ledyard Center to grab coffee and baked goods. This is a great spot to grab coffee or breakfast with a friend. This spot has some seriously good pastries to enjoy!

Avery Farm Nature Preserve

Avery Farm Nature Preserve is a beautiful spot to go for a walk. There are fields, a farm, and water features in the park. It’s also a great spot for bird watching!

Yoko Loko Eatery

Yoko Loko is one of my favorite spots to grab a bite to eat in Gales Ferry. It’s a Taqueria & Hibachi eatery and you really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. They also have pop-ups with specials from time to time, so always check their socials!

Maugle Sierra Vineyards

Maugle Sierra Vineyards is a family-owned winery that’s located just outside of Ledyard Center. The winery features a tasting room and patio, wine tastings, and live music on weekends. It’s a picturesque setting for events and sunsets.

Amos Avery Preserve

The Amos Avery Preserve is a scenic spot to go for a hike in the woods. There are various trails to explore here. Some features you’ll see during your hike are old features such as old stone features such as sheep-wash pen and stone hand basis and a small mill pond dam.

Pine Swamp Wildlife Corridor

Tucked away in a neighborhood, Pine Swamp Corridor offers several trails to explore. This is a great spot to go for a peaceful walk in the woods. It’s also a great spot for bird watching.
