Getting There

This social hall and beer garden is located in the Olde Mistick Village in Mystic, Connecticut. Getting here is easy as it’s located right off of Interstate 95.

If you’re coming from Interstate 95, you’ll take exit 90. It’s conveniently located right off of the highway! If you’re coming from Interstate 95 South, the exit will take you right into The Village. Take a right into the parking lot and drive around to the other side of the village and you’ll see the building.

If you’re coming from Interstate 95 North, at the end of the off ramp, take a right. At the first light, you’ll take a left on to Coogan Boulevard. Just past the McDonald’s, you’ll take a left into Olde Mistick Village.

Seating Options

Jealous Monk has both indoor and outdoor seating available. Since this is a social hall, the seating inside is shared tables as well as bar seating. There are also limited personal tables available along the edges of the social hall. Also, expect it to be a bit loud as everyone enjoys each others company!

The other option for seating is outdoor seating, also known as the Beer Garden. This is a great option for families who are looking to have a bit more space and if you’re just looking to enjoy your food in drinks in some fresh air!

In the warmer months, they have a host outside so there’s no need to walk inside to request a table outside. In the cooler months, you might have to go inside to request a spot outside.

While you might not think this is a great place to dine outdoors in the winter, you’re mistaken! In the colder months, they have igloos available outside! Be sure to check their website for the igloo reservation requirements. There is a tab purchase minimum or party count minimum!

Another great thing about the outdoor section is it’s dog-friendly! They have dog bowls available for water, so no need to bring a travel bowl for your pup! However, the patio is gravel so if you have a puppy who likes to eat rocks, you’ll want to keep an eye on them!

What’s on the Menu

There is a wide variety of food and drinks on the menu. The beer and food will not disappoint!

Drinks at Jealous Monk

This spot is a beer lovers paradise! The bar serves 30+ rotating taps. Being an avid user of Untappd, I always find a unique beer on tap to get ahead of my friends. This is a great place to taste new beers!

No matter what style of brew you are into, the Monk has you covered. Between their lagers, sours, tripels, IPAs, porters, stouts (and more) this beer hall will definitely have something for you!

If you’re there during the after work hours, you definitely want to check out the menu with all the happy hour specials!

When trying something new, try and support some of the local CT breweries! Jealous Monk does a great job at keeping a large number of local breweries on the tap list. Some particular locals include Beer’d (Stonington/Groton) and Grey Sail (Westerly, RI).

Some other good CT breweries that you may have heard of from our posts or the CT Beer Trail include Two Roads and New England Brewing Company. Alvarium is also another great CT brewery!

Not into beer? No problem! They have more options available on their drink menu. Some of the other drinks you can get are cocktails and wine! If you’re looking for something unique, go for a handcrafted cocktail.

The Food at Jealous Monk

While many people come here for the beer, they also have some great food on the menu! Whether you’re looking for some quick bites while you socialize, or an entire meal, their menu has you covered!

For a sit down dinner, I strongly recommend starting with the charcuterie pretzel. The charcuterie pretzel has rotating cheeses and meats, so it might be tough to get same charcuterie pretzel more than once!

The Truffle Fries are also a great supplement to any dinner! But if you ask my sister, she’d tell you to get the Buff Chicken Rangoon.

Some other great options for a small bite with your drink are Belgian frites, chicken wings, griddled cornbread, loaded fries, a hummus platter, or the Monk flatbread. There’s really no wrong options!

To complete your meal and carb up (to soak up the alcohol, obviously), I recommend getting their quality Monk Mac and Cheese. I tend to order one for dinner and then take one home for leftovers!

More to do

Even if you don’t want to drink or sit down for dinner, Jealous Monk is the perfect place to bring family and friends for a friendly competition. I can personally say that I have had some rough nights at this social hall where I lost some close Scrabble games (some of my family will never live those moments down).

Be sure to visit for their weekly events. Each day they do something different. On Sunday’s, be sure to start your morning with some cocktails for bottomless mimosas (the perfect hangover cure, right?). The first few are free and part of the bottomless quota, after that they charge you a quarter for each refill!

My next favorite day would be Wine Lover Wednesday. As a fellow Connecticut Wine Trail enthusiast, I love throwing back a few 1/2 priced bottles on Wednesdays. Tuesdays are great to get the family together for some trivia!
