Getting There

Mystic Village is located at 27 Coogan Blvd in Mystic CT. It’s located just two miles from historic downtown Mystic. If you’re staying at the Hilton Mystic, the Olde Mistick Village is located conveniently across the street! It’s great having restaurants near your hotel!

If you’re coming from Interstate 95, you’ll take exit 90 to get to Olde Mistick Village. It’s conveniently located right off of the highway! If you’re coming from Interstate 95 South, the exit will take you right into Olde Mistick Village. If you’re coming from Interstate 95 North, you’ll go straight at the light and then take a right into The Village.

There are also a couple entrances into Ole Mistick Village that are off of Coogan Boulevard. The first entrance if you’re coming from Route 27 is on the left just past the McDonalds. However, if you miss this entrance, there is another way you can enter! You can take a left at the next light by the Starbucks and Mystic Aquarium.

Old Mystic Village Restaurants

There are a lot of eateries in Olde Mistick Village so you may have trouble choosing the best one for you. That’s why I’ve highlighted each below so you’ll be able to pick one to try.

Pink Basil

Pink Basil is hands-down one of my favorite restaurants in the Mystic Village. Pink Basil specializes in authentic Asian cuisine. Whether you’re looking for a tasty stir fry, a curry dish, or some fresh sushi, Pink Basil has you covered. They also make great cocktails and drinks!

I never get tired of their food. At one point, I was getting Pink Basil every week! My favorite item on the menu is the Thai Pepper because I very much enjoy spicy food. At Pink Basil, you’re able to choose your spice level – one spice being the lowest and four spice being the hottest. I tend to go for a three spice level.

If you’re not into spicy foods, there are plenty of options that are not spicy! Thankfully, the menu makes it easy to know which dishes are spicy and which aren’t. The spicy dishes will have a pepper next to them. If you’re not good with spicy, look at the menu items without a pepper next to the dish name!

This Mystic restaurant is also known for its sushi! This is one of my boyfriend’s favorite places to get sushi in the area. They have a wide variety of options to choose from. They have the the classics you’d expect to find at most sushi bars as well as specials like the Mystic Roll and the Pink Basil Roll. It’s the perfect place to grab some good sushi!

Jealous Monk

A personal favorite hangout to meet up with friends and family would be the Jealous Monk. Open year round, this amazing bar has something for everyone in the group!

On a nice day or evening, Jealous Monk is the perfect place to grab a drink outside at the Beer Garden or at a fire pit. You can also grab a table and move around to play a variety of lawn games!

If you are ever in Mystic Village off season in the winter, Jealous Monk now breaks out dining igloos (the perfect way to have a drink)! Be sure to check out their website for the requirements. There is a tab purchase minimum or party count minimum!

If you are looking to dine in a more ‘traditional’ fashion, head inside and grab a table or spot at the bar. To beer lovers, the bar serves as a terrific view of the 30+ rotating taps that Jealous Monk has to offer. Being an avid user of Untappd, I always find a unique beer on tap to get ahead of my friends. This is a great place to taste new beers!

For a sit down dinner, I strongly recommend starting with the charcuterie pretzel. The charcuterie pretzel has rotating cheeses and meats, so it might be tough to get same charcuterie pretzel more than once! The Truffle Fries are also a great supplement to any dinner at the Jealous Monk!

To complete your meal and carb up (to soak up the alcohol, obviously), I recommend getting their quality Monk Mac and Cheese. I tend to order one for dinner and then take one home for leftovers!

Even if you don’t want to drink or sit down for dinner, Jealous Monk is the perfect place to bring family and friends for a friendly competition. I can personally say that I have had some rough nights at Jealous Monk where I lost some close Scrabble games (some of my family will never live those moments down).

Be sure to visit Jealous Monk for their weekly events. Each day the Jealous Monk does something different. On Sunday’s, be sure to start your morning with some cocktails for bottomless mimosas (the perfect hangover cure, right?). The first few are free and part of the bottomless quota, after that they charge you a quarter for each refill!

My next favorite day at Jealous Monk would be Wine Lover Wednesday. As a fellow Connecticut Wine Trail enthusiast, I love throwing back a few 1/2 priced bottles on Wednesdays. Tuesdays are great to get the family together for some trivia!

Bleu Squid

Right around the corner from Jealous Monk is the Bleu Squid. Bleu Squid is a great place to get breakfast or lunch. If you’re not looking for a meal, it’s also a bakery, making it a great place to grab a sweet treat!

They offer a variety of options for breakfast. The options you have are eggs any way, breakfast handhelds, three egg omelettes or scrambles, home fry skillets, pancakes, french toast, and smoothies.

For lunch, they’re known for their grilled cheeses. They have so many different ways you can get your grilled cheese. You can get a four cheese blend, a lobster grilled cheese, a chicken and sun-dried tomato with pesto grilled cheese, and many more.

Other options for lunch are sandwiches, mac and cheese, and salad. Additionally, they have lobster rolls! There’s no better place than a shoreline town like Mystic to get a lobster roll!

Looking to get some good pizza? Check out Mango’s Wood Fired Pizza! Mango’s is arguably one of the most unique pizza restaurants in all of New England.

Whether you’re looking to get a red pizza or a white pizza, Mango’s Wood-Fired Pizza has you covered! They’ve got your classic flavors, but they also have a lot of fun flavors on the menu! The flavor combinations they have are so delicious, you can’t go wrong with any of them! They always serve up great pizza!

Steak Loft (Old Mystic Village Restaurants Top Pick)

In the mood for some steak? Dine in at Steak Loft, the best steakhouse in Mystic. Steak Loft offers premium program beef, fresh seafood, a delicous salad bar, wine, cocktails, entertainment and excitement.

There are two different sections that you can sit in. You can go to the dining room, which is a bit more classy, or you can go to the bar for a more casual dining experience. Personally, I prefer to sit in the bar. Going the bar section is nice because you can seat yourself!

The bar at Steak Loft has a very casual atmosphere. It’s the perfect place to grab a drink and a bite to eat.

As the name suggests, Steak loft is known for its steak. My boyfriend likes to get the Steak Teriyaki, while I enjoy getting the Sliced Garlic Steak. But, we can both agree that their mashed potatoes are out of this world!

Other dishes you can get at Steak Loft are soups, salads, chicken, and seafood. Additionally, they have quite a few appetizers that are great! When my boyfriend and I go, we tend to gravitate towards the nachos. They really load them up!

The Boardwalk

The Boardwalk in Mystic Village is another great place to grab a bite to eat. The best way to describe the kind of food you can find here is the kind of treats you’d find walking along a boardwalk on the shoreline. The name is pretty fitting!

the boardwalk, one of the old mystic village restaurants for fast food.

They have a wide variety of options. Whether you’re looking to get a cool drink, lunch, a snack, or dessert, they’ve got you covered. If you’re looking for lunch, you can grab yourself chicken tenders, clam fritters, a sandwich, or a hot dog.

If you’re looking for something sweet, they’ve got you covered. Some popular items on the menu are the frozen lemonade, fried Oreos, fried dough, milkshakes, slushies, and ice cream. One of my favorite sweets to get here is the fried dough because you can customize it and get various toppings on it!

The restaurant really gives you the feel of ordering from a small spot that you’d find along the boardwalk. Much like those types of places, you wait in line, order your food, and then wait for your name to be called. There’s no indoor seating, but they do have tables with umbrellas to sit at outside!

One really interesting thing about this spot is it’s also a gift shop! If you’re not from the area, this is a great place to shop for Mystic souvenirs! I like to look around the shop while I wait for my food. It’s not uncommon that there’s a line here because it’s a super kid-friendly spot and the food is good!

This is another restaurant in the village that I personally frequent. I’m always impressed by the taste and creativity of these donuts!
