Things To Do In Stratford, Connecticut

Stratford, Connecticut is nestled along Long Island Sound where the Housatonic River meets the sound. This coastal Connecticut town has a rich history, stunning natural beauty, and an array of things to do perfect for every kind of traveler. It’s easily accessible by train from New York City or you can drive there via I-95.

Boothe Memorial Park

Boothe Memorial Park and Museum in Stratford is a cool spot to visit if you’re interested in historical items. This park features a collection of buildings and artifacts collected by the Boothe Brothers. This park is regarded as one of the most unique architectural building displays in New England. Additionally, there is a beautiful rose garden in the park to enjoy.

Stratford Point Lighthouse

This lighthouse isn’t typically open to the public, but tours are offered. You’ll need to check the town of Stratford’s website for availability. If you aren’t taking the tour, you can view this lighthouse from The Connecticut Audubon Society at Stratford Point, which is right next door or from the water by boat. The current structure was built in 1881. This is a Connecticut lighthouse that’s worth a visit!

Connecticut Air & Space Center

This is a non-profit air museum that displays vintage aircraft, memorabilia, and artifacts that pertain to Connecticut, inside and out. The museum isn’t large, but they have a ton of interesting things on display. The docents are extremely knowledgable and you can even go inside some of the aircraft at the museum! And, it’s at an active airport so you can also see airplanes landing and taking off during your visit.

Shakespeare Park

This park is located along the Housatonic River. There are benches to sit back and enjoy the river and some interesting sculptures around the park. It also has a small garden close to the entrance to the park that blooms with daffodils in the spring.

Stratford Seawall Park

Stratford’s Seawall Park is a great spot to enjoy the sound. There’s a path you can walk along it and ther are beaches on each end. There are parking spots along the wall as well so you can enjoy the views right from your car.

Connecticut Audubon Society at Stratford Point

Connecticut Audubon Society’s Stratford Point is a great place for bird watching and enjoying nature. You’ll get great views of the sound from here. You can even see Stratford Point Lighthouse from here!

Two Roads Brewing

Visiting Two Roads Brewing in Stratford, CT, offers a dynamic craft-beer experience in a beautifully restored industrial space. They also have a second location, Area Two Experimental Brewing which focuses on the wild and spontaneous. Two Roads Brewing is one of the best breweries in Connecticut.

Little Pub Stratford

Little Pub is a great spot to grab a casual bite to eat. The food is great and there are some seriously great water views from the restaurant. It’s conveniently located next to the Stratford Seawall Park.

Goody Bassett’s Ice Cream

This ice cream shop serves up good ole fashioned ice cream. The shop is modeled after a 19th-century establishment. The ice cream is delicious and it’s right in Stratford Center by the train station.

Short Beach in Stratford offers a scenic sandy stretch right where the Housatonic River meets Long Island Sound, making it perfect for swimming, beachcombing, and stunning sunrise strolls. It’s also a great spot for bird watching in the off-season.
