A couple weeks ago, I took a road trip to Toronto, Ontario to visit the Art Gallery of Ontario. It was the first leg of a road trip I planned around Paul McCartney exhibits. You can see images and read about that part of the trip in my Instagram post.

On the way to Toronto, we decided to stay the night in Niagara Falls on the Canadian side. I’d been to Niagara Falls before on the New York side. But, it was over 20 years ago and I don’t remember anything. So, I thought it would be fun to see it as an adult!

There are so many different hotels to pick from that offer views of Niagara Falls. We poked around online checking out all of the options and we ended up going with Hilton Niagara Falls/Fallsview Hotel and Suites.

The Hotel Room We Picked

The hotel offers rooms with views of the U.S. side of the falls, the Canadian side of the falls, or both. Before we realized there were rooms that show both, we were going back and forth on which view to pick. We were very happy when we discovered that we could view both!

There were a couple of different options when it came to a room with views of both the U.S. and Canadian side. We got the two-bedroom whirlpool premium suite. We were able to splurge on this because it was only for one night and my brother and I split the cost. Below are some photos of the suite we stayed in.

Our room was on the 43rd floor, and the views of the waterfalls were absolutely phenomenal from our room. I knew we had paid for the “premium” view, but I didn’t realize just how premium the view was until a week later.

After seeing photos from my trip, my aunt went with her husband. When she sent a photo from her room, I was shocked to see the difference in views. I immediately asked her what floor she was on. She was on the 23rd floor, and the difference was extremely noticeable.

They had great, unobstructed views of the U.S. side of the falls from their room, but they weren’t high enough to get a worthy view of the Canadian side in my opinion. Buildings and trees were blocking the view of most of the Canadian side of the falls. You could really only see the top of the falls from their room.

If you’re going specifically for the views of the falls like I was, it is absolutely worth paying extra to have one of the premium rooms higher up in the hotel. If you’re just looking to be in Niagara Falls and close to the action with plenty to do, then there’s no need to prioritize getting a premium view.

Arriving At The Hotel

Since this was not the main destination for us, we arrived pretty late in the evening. We arrived around 9:30pm with the hopes of using the valet parking. Unfortunately, we were informed that the valet parking was full and that we would have to park off-site.

While we had to park off-site, the parking lot was owned by Hilton. There was a shuttle running between the lot and the parking area. While we had to park off-site, we were able to pull into temporary parking by the entrance to unload our bags and bring them up to our room.

Since we use the Hilton app, we were able to check into the hotel from the app to help save us time. With the app, you’ll get a digital key to use when you check in via the app. If you prefer to have a physical key, you’ll need to go to the front desk.

While there was a shuttle from the parking lot, it was close enough to walk back if you wanted to. I made my brother park the car in the lot while I stayed at the room. He didn’t wait around for the shuttle and he walked back. However, there weren’t sidewalks the entire walk between the lot and the hotel. Thankfully when we walked to the car in the morning with our luggage, there wasn’t a lot of traffic.

The parking lot was a paid lot, but it was significantly cheaper than the valet parking would have been. So, I guess it worked out in our favor a bit. You can find prices for parking and more helpful information on the Hilton Niagara Falls website.

Things To Do

I’m going to be very honest. When I visited, this was really just a place to stay and not the true destination for the trip. I spent pretty much all of my time in the room admiring the falls and photographing them. This was my main reason for staying here. To discover everything there is to do, check out their website.

My first order of business was photographing the waterfalls. I brought my trusty tripod up with me to get long exposures of the waterfalls and night photos. Despite the photos being taken through the windows, they looked absolutely amazing. The falls get lit up at night with different colors throughout the night. It was a lot of fun to see and capture.

While I was photographing the falls, fireworks started going off! I had a breathtaking view of the fireworks right from my room. In the summer months, there’s a fireworks show every night at 10pm. While I didn’t really take advantage of most of the things this hotel offers, I did enjoy the fireworks display right from my hotel room!

When my brother got back from parking the car, we went down to the bar in the hotel. Since he is a Hilton Diamond member, he had credits to use. Since we planned to leave first thing in the morning, we decided to grab drinks with the credits. I got my go-to, which is an Irish Mule. It was top-notch. Then, we went back up to the room to get some much-needed sleep.

The next morning, I woke up early to catch the sunrise. I spent some more time taking photos of the waterfalls before the sun came up.

When the sunrise happened, it did not disappoint. It was absolutely worth the early wakeup. Once the sun was up and the glow was gone, we hit the road and finished our drive to Toronto.

Is This Hotel Worth Staying At?

If you’re looking to get stunning views and photos of Niagara Falls in a private setting, I would say this hotel is more than worth it. I loved being able to photograph and view the waterfalls from my warm hotel room at night and in the early hours of the morning. I could literally roll out of bed and instantly have views! That alone made it worth the money I spent. Plus, you get views of the falls that are distinctly different from the views you’d get down at the parks for the waterfalls.

While my stay was brief, I would absolutely go back and stay here again in the future. Knowing what I know about the views from rooms lower in the tower, I would absolutely pay the money to ensure that I’m higher up to get the best views. And of course, I’d spend time exploring Niagara Falls next time!

  1. When we lived in Toronto, a trip to Niagara Falls was a great escape. And hotels like the Hilton were perfect for beautiful views of the falls – especially if you book a premium view room! Great pics and awesome to get fireworks too.
