New London Ledge Light

New London Ledge Light is said to be haunted by the ghost of a former keeper named Ernie. After his wife left him, Ernie reportedly threw himself off the lighthouse, and his spirit never left. Today, visitors and Coast Guard personnel report hearing his footsteps and finding doors mysteriously opening and closing.

Seaside Sanatorium

Seaside Sanatorium was a medical center for the heliotropic treatment of children with tuberculosis. From 1959-1961, the campus was a Geriatric Center and from 1961-1996, the Connecticut Department of Developmental Services used buildings for its new regional center. Today, it’s a state park. Many people feel that this spot is haunted by spirits of children.

Captain Daniel Packer Inne

The Captain Daniel Packer Inne was built by Captain Daniel Packer across the street from the Mystic River in 1756. Today, it is a cozy restaurant and pub. Many people believe that this spot is haunted by Captain Daniel Packer and his great-niece Ada who died in the inn. People have seen apparitions, heard footsteps, and seen doors opening and closing on their own.

Sheffield Island Lighthouse

This beautiful lighthouse situated on an island in Norwalk also has some eeriness to it. People on the island have reported hearing strange music, a faint foghorn, distant cries for help, and other strange noises. You can visit Sheffield Island Lighthouse with the Norwalk Seaport Association.

Fort Trumbull State Park

Fort Trumbull in New London is said to be haunted. In 1781 during the American Revolutionary War, the fort was attacked and captured by the British under the command of traitor Benedict Arnold. Today it is a museum and people have claimed to see shadowy figures in the fort or soldiers outside of the fort that disappear.

Boothe Memorial Park

Boothe Memorial Park and Museum in Stratford features a collection of buildings and artifacts collected by the Boothe Brothers. The Boothe brothers were known for their studies and interest in spiritualism. They built shrines on the property, which is seen as a potential cause for the paranormal activity. People have heard disembodied voices, seen figures, and heard knocking sounds.

Leffingwell House

The Leffingwell House in Norwich is said to be haunted. It’s been investigated by several ghost hunters who have seen figures and captured audio. The museum offers an annual haunted history investigation with Arrowhead Paranormal Investigators where you can learn how use the equipment and do an investigation.

Fort Griswold

Fort Griswold was the site of the Battle of Groton Heights during the American Revolutionary War. Colonel Ledyard gave up his sword to surrender, but he was immediately killed by the British. When the battle ended, 85 Americans had died, five were dying, and 36 were severely wounded. Today, it is believed the fort is haunted by soldiers who died there.

Fairfield Hills Campus

Fairfield Hills Hospital in Newtown was a psychiatric hospital from 1931-1995. Many people believe this spot is haunted because of the history of trauma, pain, and suffering of the residents. Today the property is home to municipal buildings, walking paths, sports fields, and even a great brewery, NewSylum Brewery.

Old New-Gate Prison & Copper Mine

From 1773 to 1827, this spot in East Granby served as Connecticut’s first state prison, often holding dangerous criminals in horrible conditions. People have reported hearing screams down in the mines and seeing figures. This is a popular spot to visit in the fall when the museum does it’s jack o’ lantern display in the old copper mine.

Mark Twain House

Another haunted spot to check out is the Mark Twain House in Hartford, which has been featured three times on “Ghost Hunters.” Each time, they get some pretty compelling evidence. The museum offers Graveyard Shift Ghost Tours to learn the ghost tales of the house and to learn about the Victorians’ fascination with spiritualism.
