Every year, one of my favorite things to do during the holiday season is going out to pick out the perfect Christmas tree. I love exploring new Christmas tree farms, but there are some that I continue to go back to year after year. Geer Tree Farm in Griswold, Connecticut is one I’ve been to many times, and it never disappoints. Not only do they have great trees, but the property itself is beautiful.

What To Expect When Cutting Your Own Tree
Geer Tree Farm is allows you to cut your own Christmas tree. They have handsaws available for you to use that are nice and sharp. After you get the saw, you’ll be able to explore the farm to search for your tree. The farm has over 100 acres of trees of different sizes, shapes, and varieties. There’s really something for everyone here!

If the thought of walking the property feels daunting, or if you have small children that you know won’t want to walk, there’s a tractor that will take you around the farm!

One of my favorite things about this farm is that it’s so scenic. It’s more than just a field filled with rows of trees. It’s Christmas trees with rolling hills and beautiful views. There’s even an overlook! Be sure to take in the views as you search for your tree.

When you find your and cut it, you can drag it to the edge of the row where a worker will pick it up and drive it down to where they’ll wrap them. It’s way better than having to carry the tree all the way back, especially if you wandered pretty far into the farm like we normally do.

Then, you can head back down to where they’ll wrap your tree to make it easy to transport home.
Other Things They Offer
If you’re visiting on a weekend, they will have food trucks at the farm with food, popcorn, snacks and more. It’s a great way to make a day of it!
If cutting your own tree isn’t your thing, they do offer pre-cut trees. You can also get other greenery to dress up your home for the holidays, such as handmade wreaths and other decorations.

Is This Christmas Tree Farm Worth A Visit?
Yes! It’s always been a great experience when I go. This is a pretty popular tree farm, so if you’re trying to avoid crowds, I’d recommend going on a weekday. However, the farm is so large, you really won’t notice if there are a lot of people, except when you’re down where the food trucks are.
