The Connecticut Christmas Movie Trail highlights towns that have served as filming locations for popular holiday movies. This trail is new as of last year and it’s the first Christmas movie trail in the United States. There have been a shocking number of holiday movies filmed here in Connecticut, and you can easily check out some of the spots that were featured in your favorite holiday films.

Mystic, Connecticut

Hallmark’s Mystic Christmas was filmed in Mystic, Connecticut. Connecticut’s number one tourist town made for a great spot for a holiday movie. There are so many spots you can check out from the film such as Mystic Aquarium, Mystic Seaport, downtown Mystic, Sift Bakeshop, and more!

Norwich, Connecticut

Norwich, Connecticut was featured in the Hallmark movie Soul Santa. Downtown and the Harp & Dragon Pub was also featured in the movie. You can actually dine in at the Harp & Dragon Pub and get classic Irish pub food. The beautiful Norwich Free Academy campus was also featured in Wally Lamb’s Wishin’ and Hoppin’ movie on Lifetime. Various movies feature the Norwich Town Hall.

Waterford, Connecticut

Holiday for Heros, which was on Hallmark, featured scenes from Harkness Memorial State Park in Waterford, Connecticut. It’s not a shock, considering the park is absolutely beautiful featuring a mansion, ocean views, and gardens. It’s the perfect spot for a Hallmark movie!

Stonington, Connecticut

Holiday for Heros also features scenes from the charming, historic Stonington Borough. This is honestly one of my favorite spots to take a stroll in southeastern Connecticut. The streets are lined with beautifully preserved historic homes and there are great water views at Stonington Point.

Wethersfield, Connecticut

Hallmark’s Christmas on Honeysuckle Lane features scenes from Old Wethersfield. This town is cute to visit year-round, but it’s especially great to visit during the holiday season. You can stay the night in the The Silas W. Robbins House, grab a bite to eat at the Heirloom Market, or tour the Webb-Deane-Steven Museum.

New London, Connecticut

There have been a lot of different movies that feature various spots around New London. While many feature downtown, some feature specific spots such as the Connecticut College Campus, Mitchell College, and Muddy Waters Cafe. Muddy Waters is a great spot to grab coffee or a bite to eat with views of the Thames River.

Ledyard, Connecticut

The Holiday Fix Up features Holmberg Orchards and Winery in Ledyard, Connecticut. This spot has the cutest little farm store with delicious baked goods and more. They also have a cute tree made out of vintage wooden apple crates. It’s a nice spot to stop if you’re in the area!

Essex, Connecticut

Essex, Connecticut’s Main Street was featured in Christmas at Pemberly Manor on Hallmark. Essex’s historic Main Street is so charming and picturesque. Historic homes line the street and there are plenty of businesses to check out, including the historic Griswold Inn where you can dine or stay.

Chester, Connecticut

Next Stop, Christmas features downtown Chester. Downtown Chester features multiple businesses to check out as well as galleries. You can grab a drink at Little House Brewing, grab ice cream at Honeycone Craft Ice Cream, or grab a slice of pizza at Otto.
