Last weekend, I went to my first paint and sip event at Muse Paintbar in Providence, Rhode Island. Doing a guided painting at a place like this has been something I’ve wanted to do for a while, but I was honestly skeptical that I’d be able to come home with a beautiful painting.

I waited this long really because I just didn’t want to waste my time or money to come home with a painting that made me upset. Thankfully, this was not at all what my experience was at Muse!

Where Is Muse Paintbar?

This paintbar is located in the beautiful, historic College Hill neighborhood. There is a paid parking lot very close to the location, or you can park on the street like I did (it was super affordable and you could pay at the meter or on your phone).

I am not a city person at all, but it was easy and painless to find the paintbar and parking. If I thought it was easy and painless as a small town gal who avoids cities, that’s saying something.

Signing Up

Signing up for this was super quick and easy to do online. I booked for the group I planned to go with and it took me a couple of minutes.

Their website was really easy to use. You’ll find a list of upcoming events and it’s very clear what the painting is and whether or not there are seats available for the event. Simply click event you’re interested in and hit book!

The Experiencee

When I walked in, one of the workers came up to me so I could get checked-in for the event. She then walked me to the table that was already set up for my group and showed me where I could hang my coat and grab a smock. My spot was set up with all of the essentials I would need to do my painting.

The instructor we had was great. She explained what everything we had in front of us was for and she was really clear when she was giving instructions. There were also other workers who were walking around to help you if necessary.

I was expecting to be stressed out about trying to paint (since I have basically zero painting experience, unless you count elementary and middle school). But, the instructor and other staff helped to make this a fun and enjoyable experience!

The whole event was about two hours long. There were food and drinks you could order, but I don’t think I could have eaten and painted at the same time. Plus, there wasn’t really a ton of room to put food at the table I was painting at because of all of the art supplies. Honestly, I also wouldn’t want paint around my food, but that’s just me LOL. But, the option is there.

As I worked through my painting, I definitely had a hard time trying to envision how the different steps were going to lead to a beautiful painting like the example one I saw on the wall.

I worked hard to follow the instructions (even though I’m not great with verbal instructions LOL) and tried to have fun with it instead of stressing out about whether my painting was going to be good or not.

By the end, I had a painting I was super proud of! While I was initially skeptical that I could leave with a painting I’d actually want to display in my house, that’s exactly what happened.

The steps were really easy to follow and they definitely did a good job with picking a painting that I really think anyone can do. They simplified the steps and were always ready to help or even just give a confidence boost!

Final Thoughts

I honestly LOVED doing this and I can’t believe that I’ve never done this before. I’ve already been looking at going again because it was so much fun and I really want to explore College Hill a little bit more because it was such a pretty and historic area.

This is a great spot for date night or a girls’ night. Definitely recommend doing this if you’re looking for something different to do in Providence!
