This year for my birthday, I took a trip to St. Augustine, Florida. I’m not really a beach girl, so I went for the history and the museums. I was really excited to see that they had a classic car museum in the area. This ended up being one of my favorite things we did during our trip.

Where Is It?

The car museum is located right on U.S. Route 1 in St. Augustine, Florida. While it’s not directly in the historic downtown, it’s only about ten miles away. It’s worth venturing out of downtown to visit this museum filled with beautiful classic cars. The showroom features cars from the 1800s to modern day sports cars.

My Visit To The Museum

Stepping into the entrance felt a bit like stepping back in time because there were vintage touches everywhere, which I loved. From the moment we walked in, the volunteer was so friendly. He told us all about the cars that we would see inside the showroom. You could tell that the people who run this place are passionate about what they do. It really makes such a difference.

As we were paying for our admission, he also told us about the super cool automobile that was on display right by the register. It was an 1895 Roche’ Snyder Roadster. It is the oldest car in the museum and super rare. There’s a good chance that is one of only a few left in the world. It was seriously so cool to see.

The show room had cool cars at every turn. Most of the cars had signs telling you what it was, what year it was manufactured, and some fun facts about the car itself. There was definitely a lot of care put into displaying these classic cars to help bring memories back to life, while also being educational. It’s everything you could possibly want from a museum like this.

If you’re a photographer, this is spot is a lot of fun. These old cars really are works of art. They just don’t make cars like this anymore. I’ve had an appreciation for classic cars for many years. My best friend’s father has three late 60s Chevrolet Camaros, which is where I first got an appreciation for classic cars. We used to go with him to local classic car shows in the Camaros.

During my visit, I made sure I took plenty of photos of the Camaros to send to my friend. Funnily enough, the ones at the museum were the same years as her dad’s and some were even the same colors! It really brought me back.

While I had a loose background with classic cars, I don’t think you have to be an enthusiast to appreciate this museum. The cars are really just that cool. You don’t have to know anything about the engines or any specs to appreciate them.

I think my favorite cars were the large cars from the 1950s with the tail fins. I couldn’t believe just how long they were. Some of them were up to 20 feet long! I kept pointing at them and asking my boyfriend if I could have one.

The volunteer told us that when they take them out of the showroom, they take up two spaces in parking lots and a lot of space when they pull them up to gas pumps. He also told us most of the cars in there only get like 4 miles per gallon. I don’t think I’d want to be driving one around these days lol.

I could go on and on about how cool this museum was, but I’ll let the photos I took speak for themselves. I took so many photos. Below are just some of my favorites that I took.
