East Hampton, Connecticut, offers a small-town vibe with classic New England charm. In this post, we’ll highlight the things to see, do, and experience in East Hampton.

The Comstock Bridge is a hidden gem on the border of East Hampton and Colchester. This bridge is on the National Register of Historic Places making it a great spot for anyone interested in history. This historic covered bridge, dating back to the 1873, offers a glimpse into New England’s past while providing a peaceful setting for a scenic walk or photo op.

Pumpkintown USA is a seasonal attraction in Connecticut that’s worth checking out for family-friendly fun. In the fall, Paul’s and Sandy’s Too creates a village and forest full of pumpkin people. It’s one of the top things to do in Connecticut during the fall.

Pine Brook Falls

Interested in visiting waterfalls in Connecticut? Add Pine Brook Falls to your list! The waterfall is in the Silvio O. Conte U.S. Fish & Wildlife Refuge. Getting to this waterfall requires a short hike. This waterfall is very much off the beaten path. Don’t be surprised if you get the area to yourself!

Looking for a Connecticut hike with great views? Look no further than Hurd State Park. There are miles of trails to explore throughout the park. I like to hike up to Split Rock to the River Vista. In addition to hiking, you can also fish, picnic, and camp along the Connecticut River. It’s also a great spot to enjoy foliage in Connecticut.

If you’re interested in history, you’re going to want to check out the Chatham Historical Society. The museum has a lot of cool things on display that have ties to the town. East Hampton was known for its production of bells in the 19th century, which earned it the nickname of Belltown USA. There are a lot of cool bells on display at the museum. Be sure to also check out the Chestnut Hill Schoolhouse that’s also on the property.

Sears Park

Sears Park is East Hampton’s only municipal park. The park is technically only accessible to residents, but I enjoy the park in the off-season without any issues. The park is located along Lake Pocotopaug and it has a small beach, a playground, and picnic areas. If you’re worried about going into the park because you’re not a resident, you can enjoy the lake from the sidewalk along the lake or by grabbing a bite to eat at Lakeside Bar & Grill.

Dexter’s Tunes Tales & Ales

The storefront of Dexter’s features a large window with illustrations of books and a record, advertising “records, books & beer,” and a hanging sign with similar branding.

This is a unique spot to check out in the heart of the village. It offers used books, board games, records, drinks, and live music. It’s a great spot to hangout and meet up with friends in town. They have both indoor and outdoor seating available.

This is one of the largest state forests in Connecticut at over 9,000 acres. It’s in the towns of East Hampton, Portland, and Marlborough, Connecticut. It’s a great place to go biking and hiking in town. My favorite hike to do in the East Hampton area is the Great Hill Mountain Loop. You can see Great Hill Pond below and the Connecticut River in the distance from the top.

Explore The Village Center

The Village Center has a rich history that dates back to its initial settlement in 1639. These days, the village center is an artist community with coffee shops, boutiques, antique stories, galleries, and restaurants to grab a bite to eat. These businesses are housed in charming historic buildings. It’s definitely worth a visit while you’re in town.

The Airline Trail

The Air Line Trail is a scenic, flat path that’s ideal for walking, biking, or running. Once a historic railroad line, it now stretches through peaceful woods with easy access and free parking. The easiest way to access the trail is in the village center where there’s a paved parking lot.
