Breakfast Spots To Try in Connecticut

Breakfast is hands-down my favorite meal of the day, and Connecticut has some incredible spots that know how to do it right. Whether you’re craving a cozy coffee shop vibe or a trendy café with bold flavors, there’s something here worth getting out of bed for. I’ve rounded up a few breakfast places around the state that are absolutely worth trying.

Country View Restaurant

Country View Restaurant in Brooklyn, Connecticut has some of the best breakfast in Connecticut. This restaurant has a wide variety of options on their menu. From traditional eggs to pancakes and crepes, you’re sure to get some great food. They also have a driving range, which I think makes them pretty unique.

Lis Bakeshop

Lis Bake Shop is a grab and go place along the river to grab breakfast sandwiches and baked goods in Mystic. For the breakfast sandwiches there are a variety of bagels you can get your sandwich made on. Their baked goods are some of the best I’ve had.

Long River Local

Long River Local is a great spot to grab fresh and delicious food in Old Lyme. They have egg sandwiches and breakfast bowls available. They also have great coffee and espresso. There’s outdoor seating available or you can grab something to go. During the warmer months, they have a farm market!

Bakery NV

Bakery NV in is a great place to grab breakfast in Waterford. They have a large menu to choose from for both bites and drinks. This spot is a local favorite and for good reason. It’s one of my favorite places to grab a bite with friends.

Indulge Coffee & Sandwich Co.

Indulge Coffee & Sandwich Co. is a great place to grab a bite to eat in Stonington. Honestly, this spot had one of the best breakfast sandwiches I’ve ever had. The bagel and the egg for my sandwich was so good. They also have some baked goods available and coffee.

Paperback Cafe

This cute cafe is located in downtown Old Saybrook. It’s a great place to grab breakfast or lunch in town. They have indoor and outdoor seating available. You can also walk in and order something to go at the counter by the front door.

Walnut Beach Coffee House

Walnut Beach Coffee house in Milford is a cute spot to grab coffee or breakfast by the beach! They’ve got great sandwiches, pastries, coffee, and tea. The vibe is laid back inside and it’s a great spot to grab a bite with friends or catch up on some work.

Jake’s Restaurant

When I lived close to this spot, I would go every single week. I was 100% a regular in every sense of the word. I’m so picky about my scrambled eggs and these are some of the best scrambled eggs I’ve ever had. I’ve never been able to recreate them at home and that’s why I was there so often. I love this little breakfast spot in North Stonington. Everyone I know has been dragged here by me.

Shop Two Coffee

This spot in Marlborough has some seriously delicious bagels. Their bagels are made from scratch and honestly they’re delicious. They hand roll them and bake them fresh each morning. Their coffee is also roasted in-house. In addition to having fresh food and coffee, the vibe in this spot is so cute and cozy.

Muddy Waters Cafe

Muddy Waters Cafe in New London, Connecticut is a great spot to grab breakfast in downtown. They have great coffee, baked goods, and breakfast options. They have great indoor seating as well as a deck overlooking the Thames River.

The Coffee Spot in Simsbury, Connecticut is a super unique spot to grab coffee or breakfast. It’s geared towards people who love to read and it has such a cute and cozy vibe inside. They have pastries in addition to food. It’s honestly cool spot to grab a bite to eat and hangout.

  1. These spots sound amazing—I’d definitely love to try them on a future trip to Connecticut! Mystic’s Lis Bakeshop with breakfast sandwiches on fresh bagels sounds like the perfect start to the day. Walnut Beach Coffee House in Milford also caught my eye—breakfast by the beach with coffee and pastries sounds so relaxing. And I’d love to stop at Long River Local for one of their fresh breakfast bowls and to check out the farm market in the warmer months!
