Gillette Castle State Park was once the home of William Gillette, who was a well-known actor, director, and playwright. He designed the castle and most of its contents himself.

Aside from the castle, there are several notable features of the property. One of main features is the views of the Connecticut River that it offers.

There are also various walking trails throughout the property that were once train tracks. The Seventh Sister Railway was created to bring guests around the property.

Start your trip to the park at the Visitor Center. Inside this building is the park office, bathrooms, the gift shop, and it’s where you’ll buy tickets to go inside the castle.

Inside the castle, you'll find beautiful stonework and woodwork. Those who are into architecture or history will love touring this beautiful home!

Aside from the castle tours, it's also a great spot to get out and enjoy nature! There are various trails to walk throughout the park. My favorite trail takes you down to the Connecticut River.

Another great option for enjoying nature here is with a picnic! There are several great places with great views to picnic throughout the park.

If you don't feel like packing your own food, you can always grab a bite to eat from the food concession! They have a deck to dine on with great views of the castle.
