A sunrise hike is definitely the way to go before a hot summer day! Then you can take in the other beautiful views on the way down first thing in the morning! Beat the heat.

Night hikes for a sunrise are so worth it. Plus, the trails are less crowded and you really get to immerse yourself in nature. The dark really helps enhance my senses to take in more of the sounds and smells of nature. Be sure to bring layers and extra headlamps/batteries! Speaking from experience! I have been left halfway up with a dead head lamp and I have sat on top of summits without enough layers. Both happened on a longer hike of Mount Marcy in the Adirondacks.

Thank you! It was easy this time around as she was still only a few months old. She was lighter than my usual camping packs that I do for backpacking in the Rockies. I am sure when I return it will be a little more effort to carry her if she gets tired out!
